Integrating sphere system suitable for integral LED lamp and the relatively small size of the LED lamps and lanterns, the total luminous flux and color characteristics of the measurement. Integrating sphere system has the advantages of fast measurement and no dark room. Use of integrating sphere system has two kinds, one is the correction of photometric probe; Another using spectral radiometer as detector. The first approach to spectral matching error, so the second approach is more commonly used.

In the use of integrating sphere with spectral radiometer SSL product total luminous flux measurement, integral ball should meet certain requirements, as much as possible to improve the accuracy of the test.

Firstly, integral ball size must be large enough to ensure that baffle and SSL under test since the absorption caused by the measurement error is not too significant. Normally, 1 m or more integral ball used to measure the compact fluorescent lamp (typical incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps); 1.5 m or larger integral ball is used to measure the size of the larger lamps (such as linear fluorescent and HID lamps). Sphere size must be large enough to avoid light heat dissipation caused by temperature rise. 2 meters or more balls are usually used to measure 500 watts or more light sources.

Integrating sphere must install auxiliary lights to be used for the absorption measurement. Integrating sphere - spectral radiometer system auxiliary lamp is usually used in the quartz halogen lamps. In the whole self absorption measurement, auxiliary lamp light must be stable. Sphere wall reflection coefficient of the suggestion of 90% to 98%.

Standard recommended by integrating sphere has two kinds: 4 PI sphere and 2 PI sphere (see below). 4 PI sphere is recommended for all types of SSL products, including those glow in all directions of the SSL and the SSL only glow in a fixed direction. 2 PI sphere is mainly used for SSL only glow in a fixed direction, but also may be used to have larger casing or bearing, can't use 4 PI sphere measurement of solid state lighting products. No matter use which kinds of sphere, the size of the SSL product under test should be limited within a certain range, to ensure the accurate calibration of self-absorption. Integral led lamp for measurement, integral ball should be installed with threaded socket in the lamp holder.

Usually, in 4 PI sphere, the surface of the SSL product area should be less than 2% of the total area of QiuBi. For linear lamps and lanterns, the largest physical size should be less than two-thirds the diameter of the sphere. In the 2 PI sphere, used to install the SSL product of open hole diameter, and should be less than 1/3 of the diameter of the ball. SSL product should be installed inside a round hole, the cutting edge and the edge of the hole should be flush (or slightly inside the ball to make sure that emit light is concentrated in the sphere). Hole edge with SSL in the gap can be covered with a surface (inside is white), so that testing can be conducted in a normal room light. If the gap must exist, the need to arrange test in a dark room. In either case, when installing an SSL support materials or structures can transfer heat from the SSL product on QiuBi.

Sphere of the environmental temperature should be kept at 25 ° C + / - 1. If due to heat of the SSL divergent sphere of the environment temperature to keep in the 25 + / - 1 ° C, can open the ball part, to make it meet the requirements of ambient temperature. When measured at the beginning, the ball must be shut down gently, to avoid the ball air flow in the body.
